Dan Duran is a documentary filmmaker based in Los Angeles, CA. Multifaceted in documentary production, Dan has shot, produced, and edited numerous films nationally and internationally, including countries such as Singapore, Ghana, Italy, Finland, Belgium, South Korea, Poland, and Tanzania. Dan currently produces and edits feature documentaries and has worked with production companies that include Participant Media, National Geographic WILD, HBO Documentary Films, and the Emerson Collective.
Most recently, Dan co-produced and edited, THE SMARTEST KIDS IN THE WORLD, his latest feature collaboration with Emmy and Sundance award winning director Tracy Droz Tragos. The film is a feature adaptation inspired by Amanda Ripley's New York Times best-selling book of the same name and premiered at the 2018 DOC NYC film festival. Dan was also a co-producer and editor for the HBO documentary film, ABORTION: STORIES WOMEN TELL, which premiered at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival and broadcasted on HBO in April 2017. Dan and Tracy were recently nominated for a 2018 News and Documentary Emmy for their work on STORIES WOMEN TELL.
